Well, I’ve officially lost my mind. In two weeks I kick off my year long FINGER LAKES SWIM Project. Between now and fall of 2013 I will attempt to swim the length of all 11 of NY’s Finger Lakes.
Ranging from 3 to 40 miles in length (and up to 600+ feet in depth), the Finger Lakes were carved by glaciers thousands of years ago. They’re in my back yard. They are remarkably beautiful (this is a world class wine, food, and outdoor sports region). And no one has ever swum all of them end-to-end before.
I’ll start on Saturday, July 7th by swimming 4.5 mile long Honeoye Lake (pictured above). The adventure will unfold from there!
Check out the project website, help spread the word, and, if you are able, please make a donation or become a sponsor. Thanks!

Nice meeting you this morning! Maybe we’ll take you up on biking around the lake when you swim the length of it a few times!
Thanks, Jamie, nice to meet you too – thanks for coming out! (All the swim dates will be posted to http://www.FingerLakesSwim.com, so feel free to coordinate!)
